The most important part of this review is me actually showing how the tool performs.
One thing I don’t really like is that you need to both create an account and enter your credit card details before generating one single image. Although, the trial is still free and you can cancel your plan in 5 days before being charged.
Nonetheless, here’s the user interface of Jasper. The idea is simple: Enter the description of an image you want to see. Besides, you can specify some extra details if you want to.
When you hit Create, Jasper uses AI to turn your imagination into an actual image in seconds.
Now, let’s use Jasper to generate the images for the three different inputs I mentioned earlier.
Prompt 1
I think the AI nailed this one! It’s more or less exactly what I was looking for. A fox in the middle of a cornfield during the sunset. And it’s not a photograph but a painting.
As someone with a little artistic background, I’m not really sure if this piece is ultra-realistic as I asked, but this would do it all day for me 🙂
Prompt 2
Here the AI is once again really close to what I envisioned when I crafted the prompt. It even has a spooky vibe to it!
But if you take a closer look at the image, there are quite some problems.
- The kids that are playing the ball look strange. Some have unnatural curvy feet and strangely formed heads and arms.
- Also, there’s no ball in view.
- The fireflies are missing which I so much wanted to see!
As someone who has reviewed a ton of these tools, I can tell that this problem is quite common and you can’t really expect any better results from any other tools unless you craft the prompt more carefully.
Prompt 3
What a shot! I mean this could be something I could print on a t-shirt or set as a wallpaper.
The shadows, the reflections, and the soothing vibe is quite something, isn’t it?
Although one thing that is out of place is the levitating palm tree—but hey, it’s a mystic wonderland!

To be brutally honest, I had a really hard time choosing between Jasper and NightCafe when it comes to the #1 spot on the list.

It’s super effortless to use NightCafe, all you need to do is go to their website and generate a piece of art!
You don’t even need to create an account to generate 10 images for free.
Notice that NightCafe is more restricted than Jasper. For example, “kids playing soccer” is not an allowed input because it has the word “kids”.
Nonetheless, let’s see how NightCafe performed with my prompts.
Prompt 1
By looking at the image from distance, it looks great. But by taking a closer look, I notice two issues:
- The fox’s face is a bit strange-looking.
- The quality is bad.
But to my surprise, I could fix these issues in no time. In NightCafe, you have the option to evolve the images you generated. You can upscale the images and improve the way they look.
For example, I generated a more detailed version of this painting:
Now the image looks even better and is of higher quality.
Perhaps the only thing that still bugs me a bit is that the fox seems to be walking on top of the weak grass on the field which physically doesn’t make any sense.
But perhaps the issue is in my prompt design skills—I asked the AI to create an image of a fox in a cornfield, which in the real world would mean that the fox is probably obscured.
Prompt 2
Because of the restrictions of NightCafe, I had to use “people” instead of “kids” in the input.
The second prompt produced a bit less impressive result this time.
I mean it’s a bunch of people playing soccer in the forest, but the lighting looks more like a combination of a soccer field in a foggy park.
Similar to Jasper, these people look quite morphed and unnatural if you take a closer look at them. Also, there’s no ball in the sight.
Notice that I had to replace the word “kids” with “people” because NightCafe’s AI doesn’t accept generating images of kids to keep the AI sane.
But hey, at least there are those fireflies that did not appear when I tried generating the image with Jasper Art.
Prompt 3
The third prompt produced a really cool-looking shot of the mystic wonderland.
The only thing that appears to be out of place is that the sun is seemingly in front of a mountain. But once again, this is a mystic wonderland, so I guess anything should be possible there.

Before generating, StarryAI asks you to choose a style. Feel free to pick any one of them. I tried them all in this review.

Nonetheless, the idea is the same as with other AI image generators. Come up with input, pick a style, and hit generate. After a couple of seconds, the AI generates images for you.
Let me show you how it performed on the different prompts.
Prompt 1
I chose the Argo1 model for the first prompt.
This must be the best set of fox images generated when compared to any other tools on this list. These look like paintings that look realistic—exactly what I asked for.
Also, here the AI has realized that because it’s a cornfield, the body of the fox is obscured by the corn stovers. Thus, the perspective must not be on the ground level, but about 2-3 feet above.
Prompt 2
I used the Argo2 model for this creation.
Once again, the kids playing soccer failed pretty bad. I mean the lighting and vibe are amazing. But the players are disproportionate, morphed, and look like some failed game characters.
Also, I can’t really see those fireflies except for the last image (kind of).
But on a higher note, these people are reminiscent of soccer players. They clearly wear some soccer outfits and also the AI has drawn some soccer balls there!
Prompt 3
For the last prompt, I chose Altair—a no-brainer!
The Wonderland picture is pretty cool. To me, it looks like a drone shot or a picture taken from a low-passing fighter jet.
But the more I look at it, the fewer objects I can see in it.
- There are some sparks of fire, but they appear in random places out of nowhere.
- Also, the trees look like palms but they merge with the sand and those other random colorful objects.
As an abstract piece of art, this looks good. But not quite like the other AI tools’ versions of the same prompt!
Notice that judging an AI art generator by a handful of images makes little sense. This is because if you regenerate an image with the same prompt, you might get a 100x better (or worse) outcome. So the best idea is to try these tools—they have free trials so there’s nothing to lose!

Unlike other AI generators so far, Deep Dream Generator has a modest UI. As a matter of fact, it looks like a boring form you need to fill in.
But no problem, you don’t have to spend time checking every box. The most important part is to write the prompt and hit generate. The rest of the options are optional.
With a modest UI, the tool generates surprisingly great results. Let me show you how it performed on my three prompts.
Prompt 1
I haven’t really seen people talk a lot about Deep Dream Generator, but what a surprise it was! This image is in my eyes in the top 3 out of all the fox images in this review and I wouldn’t be surprised if someone has it #1!
You can clearly tell it’s a painting, but at the same time, it looks ultra-realistic. Also, the sunset and the colors are nailed on this one!
Perhaps the only thing that looks a bit out of place is the fox, I can’t really see its legs and its upper body just appears to pop out of nowhere. But for an AI to generate this beautiful image I’m impressed!
Prompt 2
The soccer scene also looks terrific! If you look at it from a distance, it looks like a real photograph. The ball is there, there are players wearing different colored shirts, and it takes place in the forest.
Although if you pay closer attention, the players still look odd and morphed. The referee’s face looks strange too. Besides, I didn’t ask for a sunset in the scene.
Prompt 3
With the first two images on a relatively unknown tool, I didn’t know what to expect from the last prompt. It could be awesome, but it could be that I just had a fluke with the first two.
Well, I think this one sits in between! It definitely has features of a mystic wonderland with fireflies in the sky. But to me, this looks like daylight, not a sunset. Also, where are the palms, beaches, and ocean?
By the way, make sure to test the image-to-image capabilities of Deep Dream Generator too!

The app is easy to use. The only thing I didn’t like about it is that every feature is basically behind a paywall.
I tried generating an AI avatar for myself. After spending 10 minutes choosing 10 pictures for the service, it finally told me this feature is paid…
Nonetheless, there is a free trial (credit card required, though) you can try the tool with.
Let’s see how WonderAI performed with my prompts.
Prompt 1
In these two paintings, the lighting, shadows, the sun rays look awesome. The vibe in these pieces of art is of the highest standards and by a quick look I’d rate these images the best ones I generated.
But when you take a closer look at the foxes, you can tell their faces look a bit disproportionate. Also, the left-most fox seems to have a really long torso that just goes on and on and no legs are in sight.
Prompt 2
Also, the same goes here. With a quick look, these pictures look amazing, but when you pay attention to the details, you can still tell that the players are disproportionate and look unnatural.
By the way, I used the same “Fantasy” mode for generating the outputs for all three prompts. That might have messed up my prompt and made the photographs look more like art than actual images.
Prompt 3
The misty mystic wonderland outputs look terrific! The leftmost one has more or less all the elements I asked for. It even has some fireflies (or maybe they are stars).
The right-most image is a bit more abstract, but still an awesome piece of art in my eyes.

Prompt 1
This fox painting has the elements I asked for. But I think it doesn’t look as realistic as the other paintings I did with different tools.
This is why apps like StarryAI and WonderAI are in my opinion much better than Dream.
Prompt 2
The fox painting wasn’t that great but I think the kids playing soccer image looks really decent. Although this one doesn’t look like a photograph but a 3D render or painting instead.
But this is no surprise as thus far I haven’t encountered an art generator that would be able to make those soccer players look realistic.
Prompt 3
I think Dream nailed the wonderland prompt. The only thing I don’t like about the image is the “fireflies” which are actually black dots in the center. So there’s clearly some misinterpretation there.
But other than that I think the AI generated a decent image that I could use as a wallpaper.

Let me show you what it did with my three prompts.
Prompt 1
These fox images look pretty good to me! I think the colors and the lighting look soothing and relaxing. The problem with the left-most image is that the sunset appears to take place in the night which is a bit odd.
The sun actually looks like a light of a cropping machine rather than the sun.
The right-most image lighting looks more natural as well as the scenery. But the fox looks a bit odd. Its nose and feet aren’t realistic, in my opinion. Also, the fox seems to walk on the corn stovers, which is physically impossible.
Prompt 2
Unsurprisingly, the image of soccer players isn’t quite there again. You get the idea from the picture right away, but the players are morphed and unrealistic. Also, in this one, the players seem to chase a nonexistent ball.
Prompt 3
In the third prompt output, the AI included almost everything I asked. Although the images don’t look that much of a mystic wonderland, but rather a beautiful sunset here on the earth.

StableCog is a popular tool that many reviews recommend. But in my eyes, this tool is perhaps stuck in time just a bit. The image outputs look decent, but not close to the Jasper or NightCafe quality.
Also, the image generation process is slow and takes up to a minute to complete.
Unlike previous tools on this list, I think you might want to give StabileCog a try, but I’m sure better solutions exist. You might try this tool thanks to the free version. But don’t be surprised about the lower quality of images.

I find it super easy to use! All you need to do is head over to StableCog’s website and start generating images. It doesn’t even ask for a signup!
Just notice that this tool takes significantly longer to generate images. In my use case, it took about 30 seconds to generate the art pieces I’m about to show you.
Let’s see what kinds of results this tool generates with the three go-to prompts I’ve been using all day.
Prompt 1
I like the fox output when it comes to the scenery, colors, and the fox itself.
Although it’s definitely not in the same league as the other fox images I generated with other AI tools. The ultra-realistic part is missing in my eyes as this is clearly a painting that is meant to look like a painting, not a picture.
Prompt 2
This is actually the first soccer player image that looks like an actual photograph—at least by a quick look. But once again, the players look by no means realistic.
The more I fail to generate these soccer player images, the more I believe the issue is in my prompt crafting skills and not in the tools…
Prompt 3
The last prompt gives an output that has almost no elements I asked for.
Surely, the color scheme resembles a sunset and there’s clearly some water, trees, and planets in the sight. But no matter which object you look at, the more you look at it, the less it makes sense. I think this piece is a bit too abstract for what I asked for.

Prompt 1
The fox image has the same issue that most tools have. The fox seems to be walking on top of the cornfield, which is physically impossible. Other than that, this image looks really realistic and is exactly what I wanted—an ultra-realistic painting.
Prompt 2
With RunwayML, the kids playing soccer image is no exception to other AI image generators.
The lighting and scene look good, but the soccer game itself looks by no means realistic. The players don’t quite look like players, the ball is missing, and there’s no sign of fireflies in the scene.
Prompt 3
The wonderland image is one of the worst I’ve generated. To me, this looks like a decent painting, but its quality is nowhere near the quality of the images produced by other tools on this list.

RunwayML seems to be a full-on video editor tool (although I only reviewed the AI capabilities). Thus, using its AI image generator isn’t the best use if you want to get the most bang for your buck.
First of all, the AI image-generating capabilities aren’t the best in RunwayML. You will surely find more luck by using image generators introduced earlier on this list.
10. Craiyon
Craiyon (DALL-E Mini) is a free AI image generator. This piece of software generates images from simple text prompts.
This tool is the simplest one on the entire list of AI image generators. All you have in the view is a simple text input and a generate button.
Similar to other AI tools on this list, you just need to come up with an input and let Craiyon generate the output images for you.

My Experience and Results
Craiyon is the most basic AI art generator on this list. It has no templates, style guides, or examples. All you need to do is give it some input and let the AI do the work.
In my test cases, I figured Craiyon doesn’t really generate that impressive images as opposed to other tools on this list. This is because it uses technology that’s the predecessor to today’s powerful AI algorithms.
Prompt 1
Craiyon generates a ton of images in one go. It also does it pretty fast. The fox images are not even close to the quality of tools like Jasper or NightCafe. But it’s not supposed to. Craiyon is a predecessor of the DALL-E image model and is thus supposed to generate less impressive art!
If you look at these paintings from a distance, they look great. But when you start digging into the details, you quickly notice how things make less and less sense.
Prompt 2
This soccer player’s image is just bad. There are some fireflies, and the pictures are clearly taken in the woods. But where are the players, goals, and the ball?
Prompt 3
Based on the images I generated for prompts 1 and 2, I didn’t expect anything different from the mystic wonderland prompt.
To be fair, the colors and the vibe in these images are pretty much what I wanted. But the contents like planets, trees, sunset, and such are missing.

But if you want to practice your prompt design skills, you can use a free tool to see how much the outputs improve by designing the inputs better.
Just don’t expect those high-quality outstanding pieces of art that you see all over the internet!

Using AI art generators is not only about the tools or the underlying algorithms. The most important part is the input design where you give prompts to the AI.
If your inputs aren’t descriptive or accurate, your results will be bad too.
